Globe

April 27, 2012 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

What an elaborate post title, eh?  For lack of a better description, this post is in fact about a globe.  I needed to add a little height, color, and interest to the top of the bookshelf in my reading ‘nook’ and thought a vintage globe would do the trick.

You can see a sneak peek of my newly navy coffee table which I’ll feature in an upcoming post!  Although I like the look of the brass colored base, I decided to spray paint the metal silver to give it a more modern look. Then, on top of the shelf she went!

That corner of the living room has come a long way since I first moved in….
Wow!  The paint color looks so different in all of the images, which is true in real life, too, as the light changes throughout the day.  The color is Pussywillow by Sherwin Williams. The pops of color from the globe, the artwork that I designed, the throw pillows, and of course the books, are making this corner of the living room seem very cozy!

I keep checking back to see if you've posted details of that coffee table yet! Not gonna lie, I totally want to copy you and paint ours navy blue…it looks so sharp! Will you let me in on an additional sneak peek of the colour/brand of paint you used?! Thanks 🙂

    P.S. I'm Sam http://pinterest.com/SamAlexis/ …I don't have a blog but I love yours!

Hey, I found your post googling Pussywillow by SW – I'm looking for a grey with no undertones, no taupey hues, but not too cold either. Is this a good choice? Would you say it is true grey?

I have two little boys that have a dreary orangy-brown walls – a color picked by the previous owners to "neutral"-ize the house for sale. They have so much colorful stuff, that my original idea with calm blue will not work, and so far, two of Sherwin Williams light greys turned out beige…

Hi There! I like the paint color but am actually thinking of repainting because I do find it to have a 'taupey' hue! In my office, however, I used Driftwood by Martha Stewart for Home Depot which I find to be a much more true gray and will probably repaint my Pussywillow walls with this color!

Thank you. I'm going through a second gallon of paint in "almost there gray", fortunately I have a lot of rooms to paint (laundry, hallways), and the paint will not go to waste, but my quest continues… I found a paint chip of Glidden Wood Smoke that seems to be a gray with a bit of warmth in it. I'll try to make it work! 🙂

Little glimpses of pattern mixing around our home! Little glimpses of pattern mixing around our home! 😍💗

Please don’t be fooled, though…these are close up shots for a reason- the house is FULL of moving boxes, piles of stuff to be organized and put away, and the DIY project list is LONG!

But finding small little pretty corners is bringing me a little bit of joy and I hope they do the same for you, friend! 💗🙂#
I’m nowhere near unpacked or ready to “properly” d I’m nowhere near unpacked or ready to “properly” decorate, but we needed some functional storage and a “drop zone” near the entrance we most use so I threw together this little area with things I already had…and the best part is, everything is thrifted! 😍

Eventually, I’ll put wallpaper above the beadboard and will give the fireplace a makeover. But for now, just trying to tackle the endless boxes to unpack and breakdown (peep that pile of cardboard at the end of the video)!!
Life Update: I bought a house! This has been in th Life Update: I bought a house! This has been in the works for a while but I wasn’t quite sure how/when/what I wanted to share. If you’ve been here since my Maine days, you know just how much I enjoy sharing all things DIY and home decor and I’m looking forward to doing just that.

I know questions will inevitably arise about the circumstances of this move but I will likely keep those details private. We are still in Virginia, not too far from the farm, and are settling into our new routine.

In true ‘Crafty Teacher Lady’ style, this house is a fixer upper, just like most of my previous homes. It’s in a lovely neighborhood in an adorable town and I’m excited to make some happy memories here as I turn this little house into our home!

C requested pink walls (which I obliged) and Stanley has also already come to visit a few times during family movie nights and he has given his ‘seal of approval’ to the fenced-in backyard! 🤣🥰🐕

More to share soon (likely in stories) as I continue to tackle my very long list of home projects! 💗
