Fall in New England cannot be beat and I’m so thankful we get to spend a few weeks here (my Mainer heart missed it so much)!

I recently stopped into my local @walmart and saw so many cute home decor items! So many of these items are totally giving Pottery Barn vibes but at a budget price! Today’s Crafty Project: A Custom School Spirit T

Today’s Crafty Project: A Custom School Spirit Tee 🎉💙
I wanted to create something cute and toddler-size for C to wear for school spirit days so I bought a $4 plain white tee along with some pretty floral fabric and thread in coordinating school colors and got to work! It’s not perfect but it looks pretty cute overall and I know what to do different next time to yield a more professional result!

The steps:
1) I used a basic word processing tool to print out my letters on regular printer paper. I did have to play around with the sizing a bit before it was just right.

2) Then I used sewable
heat ‘n bond on the back of my fabric before using scissors and the paper letters to cut out my fabric letters.

3) I ironed the fabric letters onto the tee

4) Finally, I used a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine to embroider around the letters, which was the most difficult part because the knit fabric likes to pucker. In the future, I will use fabric stabilizer (parchment paper works too as I made a second shirt and used parchment paper on the underside of the shirt and it worked like a charm) along with a sewing needle made specifically for knits!
