Maine Maple Sunday

March 23, 2009 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

It has been a few weeks since my last post so I thought it was time to give my readers (all hmm…lets say 10 of them?) what they want- a new post! I haven’t been doing too many crafts lately due to time and budget constraints so here is a post about something fun (sort of) that I participated in this weekend- Maine Maple Sunday!

My friend Amanda drove out from SoPo and we headed to Cooper’s Farm for what I hoped would be a relaxing morning eating pancakes with maple syrup. I went with my parents about 3 years ago and it was really fun…no lines, no waiting! Well I guess that cat is out of the bag because there were so many people there that we waited in line for a good 20+ minutes just for the pancakes! But mmmmm was that maple syrup delicious…After breakfast we hiked up through the mud to see some animals but the barn was closed! Here is Amanda on the hike back down…I’d say the best part (other than eating the pancakes and then having vanilla ice cream with maple syrup on it) was having fun walking through the mud with my trusty ‘ole Bean boots!

I love a good thrift store visit…the only items th I love a good thrift store visit…the only items that came home with us were the beach chair (we needed one), the mini chalkboard (which I’ll take to school to display the “quote of the week”), and the cute New Balance sneakers. Stay tuned for part 2 where I show you all the things that caught the eye of my five year old!! 🤣🥰🎉👏🏻

Our daughter has worked so hard in physical therapy to overcome some gross motor challenges related to balance and coordination, most notably learning to walk independently. With some encouragement, she stood up and walked over for a hug! This seemingly mundane moment for most families is SUCH a huge milestone for us- one that is a culmination of YEARS of hard work. Words cannot express how proud I am to be her mom and to have a front row seat to true determination, perseverance, and patience…today was an awesome day and makes me so hopeful for the future! 💗

I hope my daughter is building core memories of her time here each summer as well…video captured while on a July Fourth family cruise in front of Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

I can’t get enough of these cute visitors (and also know I won’t be spending a ton on landscaping since most plants won’t stand a chance)! 🤣

Buying an older home vs building new can have its perks- one being an established yard (which I just fell in love with). We’ve got neighbors all around, however, the backyard feels pretty private thanks to landscaping done years ago by the previous owners!
