Une Visite à Montréal

July 25, 2012 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

I can’t believe summer vacation is almost half way over! I don’t have any major trips planned but did take a short road trip up to Montreal this past weekend to visit my cousins.  My mother was born and raised in Montreal and that side of my family all live in Canada.  I have four cousins who are around my age who live in and around Montreal so every couple of years or so I drive the 5 1/2 hours up to visit. The drive went by pretty quickly thanks to purchasing a couple audio books:

Both absolutely hilarious and a bit raunchy!  Kathy’s audiobook is great because it doesn’t sound like she’s reading but rather than she’s doing one of her standup routines or just talking straight to you!  Highly recommend both!

Some pictures from the trip…I stayed with my cousin Laurence and her family…

She owns a beautiful little home decor boutique in Montreal called Buk & Nola
(you should totally go if you are ever in that city)…
I visited the shop on Saturday and we had lunch…poutine!!
If you aren’t familiar, poutine is a
French-Canadian specialty dish which consists of fries covered in gravy
topped with a special kind of curd cheese…absolutely delicious!
I get it every time I visit and can sometimes find it at certain places here in Maine.

Sunday we went to my cousin Caroline’s place (which is beautiful, on the riverfront, and has a salt water pool…awesome for her four boys) for swimming, boating, and dining.  It was lovely to visit and meet the two new babies (my second cousins) who have been born since my last visit…
The kids played quietly while the adults ate dinner…
It was a wonderful trip and I’m hoping they will all come for a visit to Maine next summer!

I am swooning over those pendants and pillows from your sister's shop. Be still my heart, I wish I was in Canada!

    New follower here! 🙂

I love your blog and all the inspiration you have shown from renovations on your condo and flip over. Your house is also amazing! Such a great achievement 🙂

My boyfriend just graduated with a degree in secondary education and I always ask him how he deals with the kids! Ha ha! Such motivation that you have done all of this from your teaching job!

I'm glad you had a nice trip! I read Chelsea Handler's book a year or so ago and loved it!

Our daughter has worked so hard in physical therapy to overcome some gross motor challenges related to balance and coordination, most notably learning to walk independently. With some encouragement, she stood up and walked over for a hug! This seemingly mundane moment for most families is SUCH a huge milestone for us- one that is a culmination of YEARS of hard work. Words cannot express how proud I am to be her mom and to have a front row seat to true determination, perseverance, and patience…today was an awesome day and makes me so hopeful for the future! 💗

I hope my daughter is building core memories of her time here each summer as well…video captured while on a July Fourth family cruise in front of Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

I can’t get enough of these cute visitors (and also know I won’t be spending a ton on landscaping since most plants won’t stand a chance)! 🤣

Buying an older home vs building new can have its perks- one being an established yard (which I just fell in love with). We’ve got neighbors all around, however, the backyard feels pretty private thanks to landscaping done years ago by the previous owners!

I often see many great finds on Marketplace but because I don’t have a truck or trailer, I have to miss out on a lot. I knew this desk would fit in the back of my SUV so I jumped at the chance to grab it. What’s your favorite secondhand find?
