Baby Love

February 1, 2009 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

Next weekend I have a baby shower for my good friend Beth who is expecting her first baby at the beginning of April. Luckily it is a girl! I say luckily because it seems that there are far more patterns that are "easy" to sew for little girl apparel than there are for little boy apparel and I just happen to have a few patterns for adorable little dresses! The outfit I chose to make was pretty

Stretching My Sewing Skills

January 25, 2009 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

I spent much of this weekend sewing...I decided to make an apron as a gift for someone (and I hope that someone does not read this blog before she gets it!) which proved to be more difficult that it looked in the picture on the pattern. But, 5 phone calls and one Skype session with my mother later, it is done and here it is:And yes, that is me modeling the apron wearing exercise pants and a turtle

The Glory of Goodwill!

January 17, 2009 by Crafty Teacher Lady +

As I was putting fruit in my "fruit bowl" this morning, I starting thinking about all of the items I've picked up at the local Goodwill Industries store over the years and I've found some pretty cool stuff!Exhibit A- Coffee Table: I purchased this coffee table a few summers ago for $4.99. It was a pretty ugly brown color with chipping paint and of course, lots and lots of dust and spider webs!

We took our 4th annual trip to @storylandnh and as We took our 4th annual trip to @storylandnh and as we sat to take a break, this character came over to say hello. Our daughter has worked so hard in physical therapy to overcome some gross motor challenges related to balance and coordination, most notably learning to walk independently. With some encouragement, she stood up and walked over for a hug! This seemingly mundane moment for most families is SUCH a huge milestone for us- one that is a culmination of YEARS of hard work. Words cannot express how proud I am to be her mom and to have a front row seat to true determination, perseverance, and patience…today was an awesome day and makes me so hopeful for the future! 💗
My home state of Maine will forever have my heart- My home state of Maine will forever have my heart- I miss it every day but feel so lucky I get to come back home for much of the summer to fill my cup right up to the brim! I hope my daughter is building core memories of her time here each summer as well…video captured while on a July Fourth family cruise in front of Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

I can’t get enough of these cute visitors (and also know I won’t be spending a ton on landscaping since most plants won’t stand a chance)! 🤣
Spring is the time to shine for the two cherry tre Spring is the time to shine for the two cherry trees in our backyard…watching them bloom has been nothing short of magical. And the scent of the blossoms!! Absolutely divine!

Buying an older home vs building new can have its perks- one being an established yard (which I just fell in love with). We’ve got neighbors all around, however, the backyard feels pretty private thanks to landscaping done years ago by the previous owners!
Facebook Marketplace for the win! I’m so in love w Facebook Marketplace for the win! I’m so in love with my recent find…the curves are just so darling! I often see many great finds on Marketplace but because I don’t have a truck or trailer, I have to miss out on a lot. I knew this desk would fit in the back of my SUV so I jumped at the chance to grab it. What’s your favorite secondhand find?
